Self Portrait
Self-portrait is a portrait (drawing, painting, or photography) taken or created by the artist itself.
It represents how the artist sees themselves, how they feel about themselves, and how others view them. It might be realistic or in exploration. Typically, a self-portrait is painted on a vertical canvas with a close-up or half-body composition, although it may also be done in full body.

INSTRUCTIONS
In this task, we are designed to develop a self-portrait that represents how we view ourselves. We can do it in traditional/digital painting or drawing, as well as 3D. I decided to sketch it digitally so that I could play with color more easily. I began doing some visual research on realistic/exploratory self-portraits and stumbled across this image.

I then gather some points on how other and I sees myself.
- Blue Hair
- Dark Brown Eyes
- Baggy / Dark Undereyes
- Steep Arch Brow
- Dark Purple Liptint
- Rarely Smile When I Take Picture
- Often Wear Black
- Looks Tired All The Time
- Likes to Paint
- Likes Horror Stuff
I include some points for my self-portrait and I came up with these sketches.

| Fig 2.3 Self-Portrait Sketches |
I drew the top left sketch to illustrate myself with a small devil horn since I enjoy horror and often dress up as a little demon for Halloween. Years ago, I also had a small cheesecake business named "Sinfully Sweet," and I designed mascots for it to be a little-me-devil and a little-me-doll-devil.

Fig 2.4 Sinfully Sweet Cheesecake |
I portrayed myself having dark baggy eyes in the top right drawing (fig 2.3 self-portrait), and I wanted the hands to stretch them to illustrate how tired I often looked even if I had enough sleep, and for the bottom sketch, I portrayed myself with a paintbrush in my mouth since I enjoy painting traditionally as well, but only when I have time.

I don't like the bottom sketch so I only proceed with the sketches on top. I feel like the right sketch looks better and represents me better as well as it illustrates a story more than the left sketch so I proceed with that one to add some backgrounds and light source.

Fig 2.6 Self-Portrait |
I feel like it describes me well, those baggy dark eyes and how I often don't smile in pictures, the blue hair, and bathing in blood tells how I like horror stuff. I also painted my lips purple because I always use purple lip tint whenever I go, but I feel like the light source is a bit off and not correct so I made an adjustment.

Fig 2.7 Final Self-Portrait |
I feel like this lighting is better and suits it more, and I'm satisfied with the outcome, I feel like it illustrates me well in an unrealistic / exploration self-portrait.

REFLECTIONS
I Find this assignment helpful because I always thought a self-portrait has to be drawn in a realistic way, but I was wrong. I learned how to gather points to illustrate myself or a person and this also made my imagination explores better in art.
