Project 2

LECTURES

Week 6 - Photo Manipulation

Photo manipulation means adding additional features to the original image, changing the appearance of things, and making other "manipulative" tweaks to change a photograph's original contents.

Week 7 - Digital Photography

Exposure

Exposure is to measure the amount of light in a photo.

INSTRUCTION

Project 2A

Double Exposure

We were given a tutorial and instructed to follow and create a double exposure. I have struggled to do so, even to imagine what I need to edit.

After several attempts, I came up with this.

Fig 1.2 First Attempt On Double Exposure

Because I don't really feel like it describes double exposure, So I made a second try.

Fig 1.3 Second Attempt on Double Exposure

I don't feel comfortable finishing this one so I tried to do a new one.

Project 2B

Hearst Mansion - Part 1 (Shazam)

We we're given a tutorial and needed to edit shazam into hearst mansion. We also need to filter the image shazam to make the color and contrast fit into the hearst mansion and also adding shadow.

I think the color and shadow suits the environment pretty well.

Hearst Mansion - Part 2 (Ourself)

Next task is to edit ourself into the mansion. I was having a very busy week so I did not have time to take a full body picture, but I manage to find an old picture of me full body so I used that picture.

Exercise 2 - Recoloring B&W Photo

For this exercise, we're given a tutorial and needed to follow it and recolor one photo we chooses from google drive. I chooses this picture and wanted to color the shirt with a bold color to see if I can make it pop. It's not the best but it's fun to do.

Project 2C - Photo Manipulation

Photo manipulation idea sketches

Our next task is to create a photo manipulation. I then sketch my ideas and this was the result.

I then proceed to take some pictures for the project. After that, I went to edit it on photoshop and this was my attempt.

Fig 3.1 First Photo Manipulation Attempt

It wasn't looking nice and after the feedback is given from Mr. Martin, I was told to change the tabby cat into a ginger cat, since I don't own a ginger cat I changed my concept to the other one.

Fig 3.2 Second Photo Manipulation Attempt

I think it's better to I'm going with this one.

FEEDBACK

The first concept on photo manipulation for the bread and cat is great, but the cat needs to be a ginger, not a tabby.

REFLECTION

In this project, I learned a lot about matching colors in photoshop, working with different layers, and playing with hue or contrast. It is fun to edit a photo once you know how the tools work and you'll be fascinated by how simple things can create an ordinary outcome by combining them with different things.
