LECTURES

Transitions

Transitions are the process of moving from one clip to another, and there are a lot of variations in transition.

1. Clean cut

Clean cut is used mostly in narrative-style films where the camera cut from a wide shot to a medium shot or back and forth over the shoulders.

2. Jump Cut

Jump cut is used to show the passing of time, or to make a long sequence go faster.

3. "L" Cut

L cut means the audio from clip 1 continues in clip 2.

4. J Cut

J cut means the audio from clip 2 appears first in clip 1.

5. Cut on Action

The cut was intended in a motion or impact scene like punches or jumps.

INSTRUCTIONS

FINAL PROJECT | WEBTOONS AND MOTION COMIC

Act 1

One day in the peaceful town of Jakarta, a mysterious body was found with it’s head covered in crystals. The skin was looking pale as if it was frozen and the news went all over the town that even scientists can’t explain the situation. They call this incident as the crystal killer.

Act 2

Crystal, a girl blessed with extraordinary abilities, hides her status as a supernatural until one day, Larissa, her best friend, is bullied by a bunch of men and suffers from trauma. Crystal couldn't bear hearing that her closest friend had been bullied and was now depressed so she killed the first man who bullied her. As soon as the news spread, Larissa went to meet Crystal and told her to stop, but Crystal refused. Crystal told Larissa that she wouldn't get caught and asked who the other man who bullied her was. Larissa told Crystal to promise her that she should never get caught or leave evidence. Crystal promised and told her that she would travel there through her magic mirror. Crystal saw through a mirror at hotel where the other three men were drinking, and then she cracked the mirror on the wall and came out. She hit the first man, then the other guy who was assisting his friend attacked Crystal, but Crystal deflected his strike with her stone barrier and punched him as well. The final man standing was terrified and informed Crystal that he recognized her as the girl who murdered the man who bullied Larissa, with his lifeless corpse punctured with crystal all over his face. Crystal offered the man to surrender and go to the police station to report himself, while not disclosing her identify to anybody. Seeing his two friends dead with pale skin and crystal all over their skin, the man surrendered and went to the police station to confess his action.

Act 3

Until this day scientists still couldn’t figure out why there were dead bodies covered in crystal, and who was the murderer. The last man standing was being questioned by both the police and the scientist, but he can only describe the situation, he won’t answer who or what the murderer looked like or else that person will kill her, the police then put him in the cell after of what he did and until this day, the crystal killer still remains a mystery.

Webtoons and Motion Comic

After completing the storyline I drew the pages in Procreate; it takes a long time to complete, and I have to take frequent breaks to complete tasks from other modules.

I then went to some panels and recreate it as a whole page, separates the layer, and then animate it in after effects and combine it with the rest of the pages to create the final motion comic and this was the result.

It's definitely one of the hardest assignments I did, may not be the best but I'm quite happy to be consistent to finish it. This project also took the longest time and really pushes me out my comfort zone.

REFLECTIONS

This assignment is really the cherry on top since it was the most complicated out of any other module, but it really pushes me and sharpen my skill both in editing and drawing. It also helps me to be consistent to finish a project that may take a long time and a complicated one.
