LECTURES

Week 9:

We learned about secondary action this week. For example, if a character jumps, they will bounce a little before and after the jump. Another example is when we are knocking on a door, if the other hand curls up and the shoulder raises it gives a sneaky impression.

Week 10:

In week 10 we are briefed to compile all of the principles learned throughout the semester and apply it to the final project which is creating a 10-second physical action.

INSTRUCTION

Final Project | Physical Action

We need to build a 10-second physical animation for the final result. I started looking for inspiration after deciding on the horror genre for both the animation fundamentals and film and cinematography modules. I then recall taking a "Kayang" test in high school, which required us to walk with our heads upside down. I recall seeing some horror movies where the actress did "kayang", therefore I attempted animating it in Procreate.

I created the animation based on the progress from the assignments from both modules which is Animation Fundamental and Film Studies and Cinematography. I did not create the rough animation sketch to save time because I was rushing with the other assignment but I do like how it turns out. I added the head twisting to give it more of a horror feel to it. I then proceed to color it.

I asked Mr. Kamal if sound effects are necessary and he said it's a plus point if we add it so I did. Overall I like how it turns out and it really challenges my skill to draw movement since I mostly only draw illustrations. I enjoyed doing the final project for both Animation Fundamental and Film and Studies Cinematography and will definitely improve in future modules for animations.
