INSTRUCTIONS

In this project, we are required to create a motion graphic composition consisting of the design elements which are;

  • Movement
  • Hierarchy
  • Balance
  • Direction
  • Symmetry
  • Focus
  • Scale
  • Rhythm

Part 1 which is all the animated design elements needs to be submitted with the duration of 8 seconds and with the format Quicktime / Mov. Mr. Fauzi gave us a tutorial on how to use Adobe After Effects and also some examples for the project. He gave us 4 design elements (movement, hierarchy, balance, and direction) and we had to create the rest of the design elements and also the overall composition of them compiled. I found this assignment quite fun to do as we can experiment with a lot of movement for the animation. I finished the 4 design elements (symmetry, focus, scale, rhythm) before going to the next step.

After I finished the first part, I rendered it and moved on to the next one. This part is a bit tricky and also the part that consumes most of my time. I had to tweak a lot of the element's size and position to make them work and support each other but after a couple of days, I finally felt happy with the overall composition. I also added some no-copyright music that would suit the motion graphic and exported it as well as uploaded it on YouTube as the assignment requires us to submit in a YouTube link.

This assignment is fun to learn, it helps us achieve better composition, especially in the negative and positive space. It also helps us to learn how to use After Effects for compositing which is going to be very useful in the future.
