Students will be exposed to composition in the visual arts in this curriculum unit, encompassing design principles such as balance, symmetry, and repetition, as well as one of the formal elements: line. Foreground is the element closest to you. Background is the element farthest for you. Midground is the element between the farthest and closest. Composition Theory (Perspective) The method of perspective drawing is used to generate a linear sense of depth. Objects appear to shrink in size at a steady pace as they move away from the viewer.
